Newest Post: Obsession (2025) Review
I'm an aspiring writer from the PNW. I'm in my 30s and my core belief is not unlike other genre fanatics: horror is in everything, and everything is in horror. This site, Red Rose Horror, is dedicated to horror reviews (primarily movies & some shows) and in addition to channeling my horror rants into posts here I post writing specifics like shorts, poetry, and non-horror essays on my writing website.
...this page is the about on my horror dedicated website, Red Rose Horror. While I'm passionate about horror it isn't the only thing I care or write about. In addition to horror reviews I write poetry, short stories, pop-culture articles, non-fiction essays, and as of recently novels.
I spent way too much time, money, and energy on horror, and thus Red Rose Horror, this website, is the result. Since I started reviewing horror a couple years ago I've come to believe that everything is in horror and that horror is in everything.
In part meaning literally anything can be a horror movie with minor tweaks to aspects like music and additionally that all horror movies include or reference deeper themes and plots that dive into the spectrums of human emotion better than other genres can.
My opinion is bias towards horror but many RRH posts pursue those arguments and provide evidence to support these beliefs. In addition to this overarching theme I try to incorporate historical and pop culture context, background info, and the audience's reception when reviewing & critiquing horror media.
In many ways we learn about broader society, geographic, culture, and ourselves by examining the media that is produced from it and how different groups have responded to that media. All RRH related things seek to contribute to that larger longterm conversation while simultaneously serving as a personal creative outlet.
The horror I review includes but isn't limited to movies, shows, scream kings or queens, industry trends, full franchises, platforms, and history.
A disgruntled, trapped employee tries to escape an eccentric and domineering boss with extreme measures before she is stuck permanently or harmed seriously.
When her plan backfires and causes even more interest in her torment she must find another way to escape before her boss or any of his other, even more indebted employees, discover her plans.
The first draft is complete and is currently being edited and constantly evolving (thus the vague description). If you're interested in getting updates when they become available use the form at the bottom of this page!
Horror short stories taking place in a spirit realm run by corporations that harvest by-products of the physical world unbeknownst to regular humans.
Untitled vampire novel editing & additions
Horror reviews of various lengths & depths: tiny reviews, middlings, full franchises, and deep dives
Posting about non-horror media and topics on my writing specific website or social media accounts
