I binge watch a franchise worth of movies/shows/other media and couple the review with related cultural, political, or historical content. Example—an introduction to astral projection in the Insidious Franchise Marathon post that is referenced back to in each installments' analysis.

Franchise Marathon No. 6: 28 Days Later (Est. 2002)
With a particular focus on the human aspects of the scenario the franchise and particularly Danny Boyle, the first and newest film's director, wanted to portray infected humans rather than undead zombies, arguably a less often utilized approach to the subgenre. According to various interviews Boyle has had leading up to the June 20, 2025 release of 28 Years Later he has made it clear that the purpose is humanity.

Franchise Marathon No. 5: Final Destination (Est. 2000)
The first 5 films followed the original’s 2000 release with subsequent releases in 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2011, about 2-3 years between each one. The first follows a group of teenagers who get off of a plane right before it crashes and are then chased by an invisible force, Death, seeking to restore balance by ending the survivors in order of when they would have died on the plane.

Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (2021)
The most recent Paranormal Activity installment released October 29, 2021, titled Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, sticking with the format of the other recent franchise releases that opted for stand-alone names and stories. Directed by William Eubank (Underwater 2020) and written by Christopher Landon (several other of the Paranormal Activity) it is just a good horror movie flat out.
